Cockatoo Parrots
Cockatoos are not known for their talking ability but for their endearing personality traits. The cockatoo is an active bird and can be very noisy. They require a spacious area away from neighbors who might be bothered by their loud calls. Cockatoos love to be the center of attention and will do all sorts of moves with their heads and bodies to gain the attention they feel they deserve. Cockatoos lifespan is believed to be 40 to fifty years. 
There are several types of Cockatoos: The Great Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, Lesser Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos, Moluccan Cockatoos, Umbrella Cockatoos, Goffin’s Cockatoos and Rose-Breasted Cockatoos. These are only a few of the most popular types of Cockatoos:
Great Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo – All white parrot about 19 inches long. The “Greater”, (also known as) has a bright yellow crest that is erect when excited, angry or startled. The Greater is a highly intelligent bird and will suffer if it does not get the attention it requires as do most large parrots. 
Lesser Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos – The Lesser is a smaller version of the Greater. Their average size is 13 inches.
Moluccan Cockatoos – Average size is 20 inches long. Moluccans come in various shades of pink and white. They are energetic performers and fun to watch. Moluccans have extremely loud calls which can be quite startling. They have a propensity for chewing and can be quite destructive
Umbrella Cockatoo – An inch or two smaller than the Moluccan. The Umbrella has a black beak and large crest. It is a white parrot with a touch of yellow on the underside of its tail and wings.
Goffin Cockatoo – 14 to 15 inch bundle of energy. Goffins are excellent mimics and talkers. They have a high level of intelligence and are very friendly parrots. 
Rose-Breasted Cockatoos – Also known as the Galah, the Rose breasted Cockatoo is 14 inches long and is a stunning pink and gray with a tiny crest and small beak. They are very friendly and outgoing parrots.
Cockatoos are stunning affectionate parrots. They can be loud and messy. Cockatoos have a lot of dander and may bother people with pet allergies. For the right person Cockatoos are wonderful companion parrots, fun to watch and interact with.
